Heys, it's Aqi again. I was gonna comment on your blog directly, but the textbox is kinda limited! to roughly one paragraph.

Happy birthday Milla, if it's passed. I'm only 5 months younger than you, and I think in a similar space you are in, academically. I think it's so lucky you got to move out though!! Even if it's temporary for a scholarship, and it gets like. super lonely, I feel. But it always helps to learn what life's like on your own.
I ADMIRE and am so proud you've taken socializing into your own hands and are making yourself meet people with common interests! or going out by yourself! You have no idea how many people I talk to who struggle with this but scare themselves out of these options!
Anyways, don't worry about what our peers are doing; by the time any of us hit 20, progress becomes *significantly* non-linear, there's a billion categories to compare yourself in. friends, career, money, love, identity, art. etc etc. In terms of unsolicited advice: I find it helpful to befriend people in their 30s to get a vague idea of what I could do in my life, catch a bit of inspiration. In terms of Evil Advice.... you could befriend a bunch of 20yr olds who are doing a billion times worse. So you can always be like "at least I'm not doing THAT bad".
But anyways! I admire your integrity regarding the gatekeepy classist-colonialist concept of university! But also both my parents are professors, and they won't ever stop recommending being a lecturer. They've visited 18 countries via conference / student exchange / partnership programs, and well. They love their job, I assume for the same reasons you like being a TA! oh and you get paid for every piece of research you publish OR collaborate on, so you can even get bonuses from your coworkers or students' dissertations and such. Stable retirement fund if you work for a public uni too. Besides, I always believe that the best place to spread ideals and discussion would be within the system + with a crop of students, in case you still want to invite change.
Oh well!! You are so full of art and full of potential, your life could probably go a million decent ways, Milla. I hope you get enough leeway and flexibility to try things without getting stuck. bye bye!

lolsies, you actually replied on my b-day
. Ty for your message. I didn't think the comment section cap would be so small on my blog sorry bout that, google forms kinda sucks in that regard. Your encouraging words also found me on a day where I was truly feeling particularly bad about my productivity. The perspective of your parents being profs really helps, I'm the first in my family on both sides to get this far in tertiary education so I don't really have people to reference or ask about experience in being a tertiary educator ( my supervisors and lecturers obvi won't talk about the financial aspects). anywho tyty again for the lovely message. Now I need to go befriend some 30yr olds byeee <3
